Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how Where's My Car users can delete their app account and associated data.
1. Delete your account in the app
1. Open the Where's My Car app.
2. Go to Profile or Settings.
3. Select "Delete account".
4. Read the warning.
5. Type "deletemycar" in the confirmation field.
6. Tap "Delete my account".
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you cannot access the app, email: delete@wheresmycar.io
Include:
- The email address used for your Where's My Car account.
- The sentence: "I request deletion of my Where's My Car account and associated
data."
- Confirmation that you are ready to complete identity verification.
We may ask for additional verification to protect your account from unauthorized deletion.
3. Data deleted or anonymized
When deletion is completed, we delete or anonymize:
- Account profile information, email address, display name, and password hash.
- Authentication and refresh-token records.
- Email verification records.
- Vehicles, vehicle details, and vehicle photo URLs.
- Parking records, saved parking locations, walking start/end coordinates,
notes, floor/block/spot details, and parking photo URLs.
- Family sharing records, memberships, invites, and related links.
- Notification device tokens and notification preferences.
- Subscription records stored in the Where's My Car backend.
4. Data that may be retained
We may retain limited information when required for:
- Legal compliance.
- Tax, accounting, or financial records.
- Security and fraud prevention.
- Dispute resolution.
- Backup and disaster recovery.
- Store or subscription-provider requirements.
Retained information is limited to what is necessary for those purposes and is deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.
5. Photos and uploaded files
Profile photos stored on Where's My Car infrastructure are deleted on a best-effort basis during account deletion. Parking photos and other uploaded files are deleted according to the file-storage system used in production. Backup copies may remain until backup retention expires.
6. Subscriptions
Deleting your Where's My Car account may not cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel auto-renewal through the relevant store:
App Store: iOS Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions
Google Play: Google Play > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
7. Timing
In-app account deletion normally begins immediately. Email deletion requests are processed after identity verification within a reasonable period required by applicable law.
8. Delete specific data without deleting your account
You may be able to:
- Delete completed parking records from parking history.
- Delete or edit vehicles from the garage.
- Change your display name and profile photo.
- Disable notifications in settings.
